Zambian born musician Yvonne Mwale released her latest studio-album “Free Soul” just a few months ago and got praised for it by international press.
Now, the 2009 Ngoma Award winner releases just another single, showing her musical diversity and proofs to feel at home in various styles of music. Her brand new Afrobeat track “Ne N’nga N’nga” (Nsenga for “Me not!”) is a tribute to her home in Zambia’s Eastern Province. In this track, Yvonne shows off her wide range of vocal skills, covering R’n’B ad libs as well as catchy parts of rapping. Performed the song mostly in her mother tongue Nsenga, Yvonne is free to express herself clear and direct: “Ne N’nga N’nga!”.
Back in 2011, Yvonne Mwale has collaborated with Tanzanian hip hop icon Fid Q. The song “Sihitaji Marafiki” immediately became a number one hit and remained for 10 weeks at the top of the East African single charts. Since then, Yvonne has hardly been seen collaborating with other artists. This is now to change.
On “Ne N’nga N’nga”, Yvonne features Zambias very own Mic Burner, known for its unique style, giving the song just the right touch. Yvonne says about their collaboration: “Working mostly in Europe now, it means a lot to me to connect to my fellow musicians in Zambia. Working with Mic Burner was a great experience, recording across the continents as if we are in the same studio. It feels good to stay connected to my home country and develop even new musical friendships.”
Ne N’nga N’nga is available for download on the Zambian music platform mvesesani.com as well as on all major music platforms worldwide.
